PURETi + Light = Active surface

See how it works

The process in one diagram

The PURETi photocatalytic cycle: UVA rays activate the TiO2 PURETi nanomesh, which breaks down NOx pollution; one square metre of treated surface matches the air cleaning effect of one planted tree.

Glossary in plain language

Every technical term used on this site, explained in one sentence.

Photocatalysis

A light driven process that breaks down organic compounds landing on a surface. The catalyst itself is not consumed.

Nanomesh

The transparent, 40 nanometre mineral layer PURETi leaves on the surface. Light activates it, and that is what makes the surface work for you.

MOM, Mineral Oxide Mix

PURETi's fourth generation raw material. It is why the system also works in visible light, and therefore indoors.

VOC

Volatile organic compound. A gas released by paints, furniture, cleaning products and other materials that degrades indoor air quality and can harm health over time.

NOx

Nitrogen oxides: urban air pollutants that come from traffic and combustion.

PM2.5

Very fine particulate matter, smaller than 2.5 microns. Small enough to reach the deepest part of the lungs.

Hydrophilic

Water loving. Water does not bead up, it spreads across the surface and carries the dirt away.

ATP

An indicator used to measure organic contamination. The lower the value, the cleaner the surface.

IAQ

Indoor air quality. It describes the air where people spend most of their day.

iSCAPE, Horizon 2020

The European Union research programme for reducing urban air pollution. PURETi was the winning technology of that programme.

Gold Edison Award

An international innovation award carrying Thomas Edison's name, one of the most prestigious recognitions in the industry.

ESG

Environmental, social and governance criteria that measure how responsibly a company operates. The European Union takes them increasingly seriously, and a PURETi treatment scores well here.

LEED

An international green building certification. A PURETi treatment can help earn points in it.

NASA Dual Use Technology

A technology that NASA also recognises as usable. PURETi is such a partner.
